WHY I KILLED GANDHI-Nathuram Godse’s Final Address to the Court

After having fully considered the question, I took the final decision in the matter, but I did not speak about it to anyone whatsoever. I took courage in both my hands and I did fire the shots at Gandhiji on 30th January 1948, on the prayer-grounds of Birla House. I do say that my shots were fired at the person whose policy and action had brought rack and ruin and destruction to millions of Hindus. There was no legal machinery by which such an offender could be brought to book and for this reason I fired those fatal shots.

“The Realisation of Life” -by Rabindranath Tagore

“…We can look upon a road from two different points of view. One regards it as dividing us from the object of our desire; in that case we count every step of our journey over it as something attained by force in the face of obstruction.
The other sees it as the road which leads us to our destination; and as such it is part of our goal. It is already the beginning of our attainment, and by journeying over it we can only gain that which in itself it offers to us…”
— “Sadhana – The Realisation of Life” is a breathtaking collection of spiritual discourses given by Rabindranath Tagore

What Is Karma? What Is Its Consequences?

All knowledge, therefore, secular or spiritual, is in the human mind. In many cases it is not discovered, but remains covered, and when the covering is being slowly taken off, we say, “We are learning,” and the advance of knowledge is made by the advance of this process of uncovering.
What is duty after all? It is really the impulsion of the flesh, of our attachment; and when an attachment has become established, we call it duty.
