The term “collective behaviour” was first used by Franklin Henry Giddings in the year 1908, and it was used to denote any spontaneous or unplanned reaction as well as action recorded from a group of people. However, collective behaviours of animals are also studied when kept under certain controlled environments to learn more about the species.
